I went to school for commercial art thinking I’d be an illustrator in NYC. After taking my portfolio around to agencies in the city, I knew that fast paced race wasn’t for me! My father saw that I was truly a struggling artist and encouraged me to work for him as a school bus driver in order to have a secure income and health benefits.
36 years later - and not painting at all while raising my family and working full time - in 2013 nearing retirement, my brother who is a very accomplished oil painter, suggested he teach me how to oil paint. I studied with him and began to take workshops and lessons. When we moved to Bokeelia FL (near Ft. Myers) I was enthralled by the bright island colors and the art and culture of the island and Matlacha. I began painting with acrylics trying to capture the fun and brightness of the island. We have now settled in Land O Lakes near family. I’m looking forward to painting the beauty of Pasco County!
